  That was really stupid of them because now they will be paying for it. No one will be educated. As I see it they are between a rock and a hard place! If they encourage college..the JW may study and realize how wrong the JW teachings are and leave. And if they don't encourage college..they will have to recruit in door to door. And I don't know too many brought into the religion that way.

  Funny thing..this reminded me of a "Sister" who was newly baptised and wanted to make a good impression on her College Grad hubby by being a good example. She decided to pioneer but still wanted to have the perfect house.(She was totally submissive and he was a neat freak) So she would get up at 3 AM and do the housework, prepare dinner, etc. so she could pioneer and he would not object. She also had 2 small children.

  Some of the Servants would invite them for dinner and get togethers. They would go out of their way to please him and brown nose him. Well he loved it! He eventually joined. I have to admit..he studied with the best. The couple he studied with were one of the sweetest in the congregation.

  But I think because he had a college education + they had stars in their eyes for him. They wanted him bad. Needless to say he received many promotions very quickly!

  I remember other wives bringing their husbands (Non Grads) and they were ackowledged and dumped!

  Go figure!

  he is having a field day in missouri!

  we have had severe thunderstorms here every night for the last 5 nights!

  i am tired of not having electric..so far they have been pretty good at restoring the power in a few hours..but i am waiting for the overnighter!.

  i know this is a wts discussion forum, but by some posts, it seems as if the wts never leaves some heads.

  also, a lot seems to be conspiracy theory.

  Is it morally OK to try to free people from the WTS and how?

  still have some privileges etc, but that will not be too long i suppose.

  Again I agree with Free to Be!

  I was thinking the same thing. I read here of so many that leave and just don't know what to do with themselves.
  They are like displaced people.

  They have to want to leave. I would let them decide what is best for THEM! It will affect their whole life.

  Snoozy..who left of her own free will .
  PS since hubby died I have done a lot of thinking..I almost wish I had gone back for him. I would have been faking it but I would have been OK with that. At least the family would have been in harmony. Especially since he wouldn't leave.

  I wouldn't have been active tho. Couldn't have pushed it that far.

  As I see it..it wouldn't have been any different than going to his airplane shows or gun shows..they got pretty boring too!..But I did it for him...

  Why the Jehovah's Witness religion will live on and on

  i have read in here a few post, and would expect to see these kind of post.

  where people hope the religion will end some day and perhaps then all that has happened as a former witness to us, will be stopped and the witnesses will see the error of their ways and life will be good again.

  i never think they will end, and here are some reasons why i think this way.. third world countries thinking.

  I agree..especially the part about good and bad in all religions!
  If someone here decides to become a JW again. So be it.
  If it works for them..who is to say it is wrong.

  I wonder sometimes if I had been in a different religion and found out things about it like I did about the WTBTS if I would have resigned?

  I probably would have just quit going but gone back occasionally for "Spiritual association."

  For some reason the JW's( And a few other religions) have a strict take it or leave it policy.

  So I left!...

  OK so I am trying to look on the bright side..at least the days are sunny and nice..

  But what can you do when the electric is off in the evening? It's hard to read by candlelight and I don't like the smell of oils in oil lamps..

  I need a generator!..

  Plus my daughter called me tonight ctying and said she may get fired from her 10 year job tomorrow. Seems she has been calling in after her starting hours and requesting a Vac.day. You are supposed to arrange them in advance. She was put on warning last week and then this weekend she flew to California to visit her daughter and on the way back she missed the 2nd connecting flight and was delayed. She didn't get home until this afternoon.When she called her boss he said he will talk to her tomorrow and hung up.

  She has all the proof that it wasn't her fault(The airlines gave her printouts for her boss) to show him. I sure hope he accepts it.She has got to learn to be responsible!..Not her best quality. She has a 7 year old to take care of.

  She received $15,000. from a partial payment from a lawsuit last month and it is all gone!

  I was shocked when she told me that. How can you spend that much in a month? She did buy some furniture but not that much!

  Snoozy...pulling her hair out!..
  ps...I don't want her back! I love her and the other kids at a distance...(But I would take her back if she needs me)

  me and the wife are heading down to disneyland in the winter.

  i've never been a huge disney fan, but she's a huge fan.

  i've just recently accidently stumbled onto some information that i've never previously been exposed to, and i'm finding it strikingly similar to the jw religion.

  I remember when they had a big lawsuit against them and it seemed they were untouchable as they were a community of it's own. They had their own police etc.

  I thought it was really strange at the time but forgot about it till you brought it up.

  Presiding Overseer Says They Will Ask If You Still Want To Be A Jehovah's W

  the local needs talk on thursday discussed a few different things, according to my mom.

  but the one that stood out most was that he announced that based on the new book, the elders will be checking on those that have not been associating with the congregation for some time.

  they will ask, "do you still want to be a jehovah's witness?

  No one called on me after I had wrote a letter of dissasociation. And I still lived in the same place!

  Funny thing is I had been an active witness before that. just decided I had had enough amd told them what was going on in the congregation!.

  And another funny thing is..when hubby and I would visit his JW Mom and Dad in the country..they talked to the Brothers in their congregation..they were told it was OK to associate with me as I wasn't disfellowshipped just dissasociated. Apparently they had called the Brothers at my old KH and talked to them about me.They also told my MIL they were concerned about me. I don't think she liked that..
  
  I remember one time she got mad at me and quit going to the KH for quite a while. Funny thing..as soon as I stopped going she went back. Course I was the third person she stopped going to the KH because of.

  Boy I wish I could have heard that conversation.

  I tried to get a copy of my letter ( I wrote it so long ago I couldn't remember what all I said) but they said it was their property and it was confidential. Remember to make a copy for yourself of any correspondence you send them.

  this is my story so far, but i am fairly sure it is going to end up a bit differently than most i have read on your site.

  the brothers couldn't help my husband, he didn't want help.

  Well I wish you the best on your return. I hope you get what you are expecting.

  I agree that everyone has to do what makes them happy. It is our life and if that's what you want..go for it.

  If you find things aren't what you expected..please come back. If not... I'll be happy for you. We all have to seek out what we need.

  Snoozy..who prefers to NOT go back. But this is MY personal choice.

  Quinten..you threw me a curve ball..I thought you said I was semi-invalid..My name is also Kathy...I am just mentally invalid...

  But then I thought..how does he know my name?...DUH!

  I have cable also but I don't subscribe to the big movie shows.I think you have to get digital cable for that. I'm not about to fork over $100. a month for that!

  Usually in summer I cut back to basic cable which is only $14. a month compared to the $55. a month for advanced cable.

  And Ritchie...you are STILL naked!

  ps..Hubert that was funny!..Some guys still blow their nose that way! And the Drive in movies for a buck a carload showed top movies then. Not old reruns! I don't think they sell RC anymore..or Nehi..I remember as a teen when Chocolate soda in a bottle..(Soda tasted better in a bottle)
  You had to shake it to mix it up and tasted awful to me. It didn't last long ..Although I do see it for sale again.
